Kent man charged with animal cruelty for shooting dachshund in leg

In this article, which was written by Steve Hunter is one of those cases where you think to yourself how someone could be so senseless. Steven William Cole, a 49-year old is being charged with first-degree animal cruelty for ostensibly shooting a neighbour’s 7-year old dachshund in the leg with a pellet gun. Cole openly admitted to the deputy that he does indeed own a high-powered pellet rifle which he used to shoot rabbits on his property, but what baffles me is that he used this pellet rifle which I would assume should not be used to kill any type of animal to injure someone else’s animal. I do realize, as a pet owner, having someone’s pets’ feces on my lawn would quite disgusting and indeed irritating to have to clean up constantly but Cole could have approached the situation in a more humane manner.
Furthermore, in the article it was stated that the woman who owns Zeus “looked toward Cole's house and saw him in a front window laughing.” The only thing that goes through my mind is how someone can hypothetically get a “thrill” off of an causing, in this case, a dog a severe amount of pain and just laugh about it? If I were in Cole’s position, which I would NEVER want to be in, the regret and hatred I would feel towards myself would be immense. I personally can’t handle the thought process Cole must have gone through to want to intentionally shoot a dog to show he was angered at his neighbors, I’m just glad to hear this dog is going to recover and even gladder Cole is getting charged for what he did!

"Horrible Act": Severely Burned Cat Found in West Sacramento

Searching though articles and articles of animal cruelty cases isn’t as easy as you think; this article is one of those that make me question the humanity in some people.  On May 4th/2012 Yolo County Animal Services had responded to reports made by witnesses of seeing a “ball of fire” when really it was a cat that someone set on fire! All I have to say is why, why would anyone in the right mind set an innocent cat on fire? This cat was a stray so no one knows who was responsible for inflicting harm upon it, but if you think about it would you want to be set on fire? This poor cat was euthanized to take it out of its “unimaginable pain and would have to lose limbs because of how bad the burns were.” So to put this in perspective, switch places with the cat…imagine you being lit on fire!
As mentioned in the article “investigators say the cat was intentionally set on fire after being “doused with an accelerant,”” I am inferring that whoever did this to the cat may have in fact been a group of teenagers thinking they would be cool to set a cat on fire, though if you think about it what makes you think hurting an animal for no apparent reason is in any way cool?  To think there are people who would do this just makes me cringe and brings tears to my eyes, if they find whoever is responsible I dearly hope they are punched and feel immoral for what they did!

Man wanted for animal cruelty

Reading this article deeply saddens me because seeing the level of irresponsibility that some people have for their animals is just heart-breaking. Ken Jones, the owner of two dogs is wanted for animal cruelty after Animal Cruelty investigators searched his home after a compliant was made, leading to the death of one dog and the other was lethargic (tired, exhausted, etc.). He stated that he was helping his sick mother and unable to care for the two dogs, in addition he was incapable of taking the dogs to the veterinarian due to his lack of money. To me I think that Jones is making up excuses as to why he couldn’t care for those poor dogs, he should have taken responsibility and taken the dogs to an animal shelter so they could be watched over and treated.
If you look at my previous article it talks about two men physically hurting pigs and they are sentenced a total of 10 weeks of jail time, Jones should be enduring the same fate although he is facing a charge of cruelty to animals which I hope leading to serving time. This man was extremely negligent for not rightfully caring to his dogs but what makes me cringe is that he didn’t know one of his dogs was dead; he shouldn’t have to worry about having a dead dog if he had only been a responsible pet owner and provided a safe and loving environment, not chaining them to a fence and leaving. I hope Jones never has the luxury of owning a dog ever again, saving them from his reckless care.

Animal cruelty pair jailed after being caught stubbing out cigarettes on pigs’ faces and hitting them with baton.

On April 25th/2012 a pair of men by the names of Piotr Andrzej Wasiuta, 30 and Kelly Smith, 40 were sentenced a total of 10 weeks for being caught in the act of pushing a lit cigarette onto the forehead and snout of three different pigs, as well as beating them with the edge of a ‘slapper”. Wasiuta was sentenced 6 weeks in jail for being the one who had pushed a “lit cigarette onto the forehead and snout of three different pigs as well as and forcing hot ash into one of the animals’ faces as it squirms to get away.” While Smith is only sentenced 4 weeks in jail for “ hitting one pig 30 times in a minute - forcing the animal to sit down and pant heavily during the tirade of blows.”
When reading this article I became very disturbed to know that these men were secretly filmed by the animal rights group Animal Aid and they did not step in and notify police that any of this was happening to those poor pigs, I understand that they may have wanted to collect further information on these men to perchance the increase of charges towards Wasiuta and Smith. Though if I were in their position I would have done something knowing those pigs were being harmed. In addition this article provides a YouTube video of the men discreetly doing exactly as stated in the article, stubbing out cigarettes on pig’s faces and hitting them with a baton as well as with their fist. I could only watch a painful thirty seconds before it become too overwhelming for me to watch. The disrespect I have towards Wasiuta and Smith is beyond me, I truly hope their jail sentence increases for the crimes they have committed.
